Deer Park WFC

In 2016 the leading clubs in the Victorian Women's Football League departed to join the newly formed Victorian Football League Women's competition. Deer Park, which remained behind in the VWFL's Premier Division, was quick to capitalise. After qualifying for the finals in fourth spot the Lions scored successive wins over Port Melbourne Colts, Melbourne University and, in the grand final, previously unbeaten Bendigo. The triumph gave them their breakthrough senior grade flag.

The 2017 season saw the demise of the VWFL with Deer Park crossing to the Northern Women's Football League. Competing in Division One the Lions managed 2 wins and a draw from their 14 league fixtures to finish in eighth place on the ten team premiership ladder.
